Today, I'm working hard on my second book (on the third draft), my Podcast, my online baseball courses, running Warbird Academy, writing for numerous websites, blogging and speaking. I like where I'm headed.
But, all of this started back in 2004...
...it was a wake up call when I was told that my roster spot at the University of Maryland-Baltimore County would come with no scholarship money and no promises.
I was the last pitcher on the depth chart, and it was NOT okay with me. So, I made a plan and got to work. Over the next few years, I blossomed, transforming from an 80mph pitcher to one throwing in the low-to-mid 90s
In 2010, I founded Warbird Academy, a still growing baseball academy in Normal Illinois. I retired from professional baseball in 2017 after seven years, earning All-Star selections in 2012 and 2015, one after each of two Tommy John surgeries.
My return from those elbow injuries defined me, as I refused to give up. I'm proud that I achieved more after both surgeries than I did prior, having some of my best seasons at the end of my career.
I'm passionate about telling stories, passing on what I learned as I climbed the ladder and hurdled my obstacles. There's too much behind-the-scenes knowledge that doesn't get passed on. I'm intent on changing that, telling the hard stories and reminding others that they don't struggle alone.
